Best Game Prize
Our hosts, GM Matthew Sadler and WIM Natasha Regan will be judging this competition. The winner will receive both of the following:
- 1 Year PRO membership at chessable.com
- The choice of a signed copy of either Game Changer (2019) or Chess for Life (2016)
Each of these books won the ECF Book of the Year award in their year of publication.
Format – Time Control and Colours
You’ll have 30 minutes + 15 seconds per move. Sadler will have the same, plus an additional 90 minutes. However, since he has a clock per game and all his clocks can run at the same time, you’ll still have a significant time advantage. Sadler will have white in all games.
The event will be streamed live online via Matthew and Natasha’s Game Changer YouTube channel. If you’re not playing, you can still follow along. I plan to watch this after tje event, to find out what Matthew and Natasha were saying about my game as it progressed and hopefully get some useful feedback on my play.
If there are people from outside the club who would like to play, then depending on numbers we might be able to support that. Please get in touch with me to discuss this. You probably have my email address, but you can also use our contact page or give me a call or text on 07732121021.
Registering should be fairly simple. Mostly you’ll just need to click the links below, and follow the prompts on each page. If you get stuck, give me a call on 07732121021.
(1) Join Lichess
If you don’t already have one, register for a free account on Lichess.org. Lichess is an awesome site and completely free to use. There aren’t even any adverts!
(2) Join the Simul “Team”
Eligibility to join the Simul is being controlled by team membership. So you need to join the relevant team first.
- The team for the Simul: BSE Game Changer Simul
- But, while you’re there, you might want to join this one too: Bury St Edmunds Chess Club
(3) Pay the Entry Fee
I’m collecting the fees using PayPal. You can find my page here: [removed – the event is now full]. Please pay £2.50 to secure your place in the Simul.
Note: We now have sufficient numbers both to ensure the event will go ahead and not to have to ask for any “top up” to this entry fee. Hurrah!
Before you can complete step 4, you’ll need to wait for me to approve your membership request, which will depend on receipt of payment. Once payment arrives, I’m likely to approve your request quite quickly. If I’m not fast enough, drop me an email or text.
(4) Join the Simul itself
Once I’ve approved your membership, you’ll be able to put yourself forwards to play in the Simul. You can find that here:
